Cycling across the northern part of the so called “Piana di Pisa”, you will reach the river Serchio and will start pedalling on the beautiful cycling path which will take you to the impressive Lucca’s walls. Alternatively, you can cycle to the close Massaciuccoli Lake in the Chiarone nature reserve.

    3. Lucca – Montecatini Terme (45 km)
Following the cycle path of the river Serchio you will get to the base of the Lucchesia green hills. You will cycle along quiet country roads where you will have the chance to admire majestic villas. With a small effort you can reach Collodi, the town of Pinocchio, with the wonderful garden of Villa Garzoni. Afterwards you will get to the medieval hamlet of Pescia with its flower market and finally you will arrive in Montecatini, one of the most famous thermal destinations in Europe.

    4. Montecatini – Vinci – San Miniato (55 km)
Heading south across the wetlands of Padule di Fucecchio, you will cycle across the wooded Cerbaie hills. Riding downhill you will get at the foot of Montalbano, where you can visit Vinci, hometown of Leonardo. Cycling on the ridge covered with vineyards you will reach the Medici Villa of Cerreto Guidi and after crossing the river Arno, the famous fortress of San Miniato will guide you to the last climb.

    5. San Miniato – Pisa (55 km)
From the scenic hills of San Miniato you will head down to the Arno valley. In Santa Maria a Monte you will face a climb and then will cycle downhill until Bientina and shortly after you will reach the castle of Vicopisano.
